What started off as an initial search on the internet to find some information on some of the early years of the Leicestershire Senior League has turned into this monster !

I started looking at the non league history of Leicestershire to find some information on the Midland Woodworkers team that my grandfather played for. There wasn't much out there on the Leicestershire Senior League until I discovered Richard Rundle's excellent Football Club History Database Website.

This got me round to thinking that I could do the same for the leagues in Leicstershire, to try and trace the history of the teams who were currently in the Senior League (this was around 2003 !!!).

I started gathering the information and rapidly filled up a spreadsheet with old league tables. Feeling a bit selfish I decided to use my free webspace with Blueyonder and put what I had on the internet. Doing this manually took a while and the updates were very infrequent. I decided to use my techy skills and put the info on an Access Database, which I now use to generate the website. The updates are still fairly slow but at least my typing mistakes have been resolved !

From initially starting with the Leicestershire Senior League and the other mens Saturday leagues, I decided to branch out to covering Sunday Leagues (most of them started in the 1960's so I thought it wouldn't take me long to get all the info on them … which shows how foolish I am). I've also now included Women's leagues and finally to commemorate their worst season ever I've expanded the site even further to cover the once mighty Leicester City.

I've also included cup competitions from the national FA Cups, through all the County Cups, League Cups and Charity Cups.

For the 2008/09 season I want to include weekly roundups of results and forthcoming fixtures and also use the main page for any news or gossip about Leicestershire Football.
